Global Press release - Business June 2021

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has strengthened its Warsaw energy practice with the hire of Cezary Zawiślak, who has joined the office as senior associate.

Cezary has experience in advising clients on energy and infrastructure transactions, including energy regulatory and construction matters in the renewables and oil and gas sectors and M&A transactions in these sectors.

Tomasz Rogalski, head of the Warsaw energy practice, commented:
”We are delighted to welcome Cezary to our growing versatile energy practice which has primary focus on the renewable energy transactions in PV and wind sectors in Poland and hope his professional approach and experience will benefit our domestic and international clients. Cezary’s particular strengths are in construction related aspects of the renewable energy transactions and regulatory matters and I’m sure his arrival will deepen our offering to clients in this space.”

Grzegorz Dyczkowski, head of the Warsaw office and the Warsaw banking and finance practice, said:
”We are seeing increasing interest in the energy sector in Poland and world-wide, especially in relation to energy transition. We are expanding our offering in Poland in relation to such matters and hiring of Cezary Zawiślak is a part of this process.”

Cezary has been a qualified advocate since 2017 and qualified restructuring adviser since 2020. He graduated from University of Warsaw. He also completed postgraduate studies of the Warsaw School of Economics in Energy Market Functioning and LLP Erasmus scholarship in international contracts and energy law organised by the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen in cooperation with the University of Warsaw.

Since its establishment, the firm’s approach has been to provide sector dedicated legal advice, as part of so-called headlights, and energy is one of its key headlights, both globally and locally in the Warsaw office.

The Warsaw office has a dedicated energy practice. Unique in its sector focused approach to legal advisory services, the practice comprises a team of renewable energy lawyers with experience in advising on corporate, project documentation, finance and regulatory matters.

Not only does the practice have a well-established client base but it has also recently attracted new clients. Last year was particularly successful for the team, as reflected in legal directories:

'Norton Rose Fulbright’s Warsaw energy team is well-rounded and can assist clients on a variety of energy matters from regulatory to project finance and restructuring. We think that the combination of regulatory expertise and project finance skills particularly differentiates this practice from others in Poland. - The Legal 500 EMEA, 2021

'Tomasz Rogalski is an elite energy and project finance lawyer who combines practical energy regulatory knowledge and project finance drafting and a negotiating skillset. We value his hard work, willingness to go the extra mile to close the transaction, energy business understanding, technical capabilities, negotiation skills and client relationship tools. Tomasz really excels at project finance transactions in the renewable energy sector and is a key expert in Poland in this field.' - The Legal 500 EMEA, 2021
