Project finance lawyer interviewed on Dylan Green’s “The Green Light”

United States Press release - People October 11, 2021

Becky Diffen (Austin) was interviewed on "The Green Light," a video series sponsored by clean energy and technology talent acquisition firm Dylan Green.

Diffen was interviewed by Dylan Green founder, Catherine McLean, about her career, trends in the renewables and offshore wind industry, recruitment and mentoring as well as the importance of diversity and inclusion initiatives.

The interview highlighted Diffen's recent work with some of the largest players in the renewable energy space, including her representation of 7X Energy in the sale of the company and its 9GW portfolio of solar projects to bp's solar joint venture, Lightsource bp, for US$220 million. She also advised National Grid Ventures in the formation of a joint venture with RWE Renewables to develop offshore wind projects in the New York Bight, a geographical region in the waters of the Atlantic between Long Island and the New Jersey coast that has unleased sea bottom ripe for wind turbine construction.

On the topic of diversity and inclusion, Diffen told McLean that diversity within an organization should start at the top:

"When I came over [to Norton Rose Fulbright], I was so pleased to see so many women, especially women of color, in significant leadership roles across the firm…I think that is probably the single biggest factor in success in diversity throughout the entire organization."

Diffen, who began her career in the renewable energy sector as a utility-scale wind power developer, is a member of Norton Rose Fulbright's Energy, Infrastructure and Natural Resources sector group. Since 2015, Norton Rose Fulbright has been ranked annually as the leading US renewable energy legal advisor by volume having advised on a total 213 renewable energy projects valued at more than US$37.4 billion. (Inframation, Q1 2015 – Q3 2021, Renewables)
