Charles Hall honored with Lifetime Achievement Award by The Center for American and International Law

United States Press release - People December 2023

Charles W. Hall, Of Counsel in the Houston office, has been honored by The Center for American and International Law’s (CAIL) Lifetime Achievement Award.

Hall’s tenure with the firm spans 66 years, joining in 1957. He was instrumental in the growth of the firm’s tax dispute practice, leading the team while trying some of the most significant tax cases and appeals across the US.

Known for his work ethic, Hall has served as a tireless and dedicated lawyer for two-thirds of a century, claiming he “flunked at retirement” and continuing to act as the firm’s senior tax practitioner. Humble by nature, Hall opted to brag about his colleagues’ achievements rather than his own and has always been a champion of the firm’s junior lawyers, fostering an environment of respect and kindness.

Hall has made generous contributions to his Greater Houston community, having held leadership roles with and still providing assistance to the MD Anderson Foundation, the Texas Medical Center and others. His work with these organizations resulted in their growth and support for a range of charitable causes.

Additionally, Hall has been a longtime member of the CAIL, joining as a junior member in 1955 and later as a member of the Board of Trustees in 1980. He continues to attend board meetings and support the center’s initiatives.

Hall is a representation of the firm’s values and is a pillar of legal excellence, respect and civic virtue.
