Ted Brook
Biography
Ted Brook is a litigation lawyer who focuses on complex commercial disputes.
Ted is known for his thoughtful and strategic advocacy. He has extensive experience in class actions, contractual disputes, environmental litigation, commercial arbitration, securities litigation, regulatory disputes and competition litigation. Ted has argued cases before trial and appellate courts, tribunals and arbitrators across Canada. Ted has been recognized for his substantial class action practice, which includes defending some of the largest class proceedings in the country.
While much of his work involves advising financial institutions and technology clients, Ted maintains a true cross-sector disputes practice, working with clients in a variety of different markets and industries. Out of court, Ted is often asked to handle sensitive and confidential matters, including internal investigations.
Ted maintains an active pro bono litigation practice. He represents non-profit organizations in constitutional challenges and access to information disputes, and he works with qualifying individuals on mandates that raise public interest and access to justice concerns. Before his call to the bar, Ted clerked for the Ontario Superior Court of Justice in Toronto, where he worked closely with trial judges on complex actions, multi-party commercial disputes and insolvency proceedings.
