Austin lawyer elected to board of directors of the State Bar of Texas

Adam T. Schramek (Austin) has been elected to the board of directors of the State Bar of Texas, which regulates the practice of law in the state.

The Texas Bar’s mission is to support the administration of the legal system, assure all citizens equal access to justice, foster higher standards of ethical conduct for lawyers, enable its members to better service their clients and the public, educate the public about the rule of law, and promote diversity in the administration of justice and the practice of law.

The State Bar of Texas has nearly 100,000 members and is governed by a board of directors with 46 voting members, including 30 lawyers elected from 17 geographical districts.  Schramek’s three-year term on the board begins in June, when he will be sworn in at the State Bar’s Annual Meeting.

Schramek, the current president of the Austin Bar Association, handles complex commercial litigation in state and federal courts across the country. He has defended many class actions, and works closely with insurance companies and other financial institutions in prosecuting and defending a broad array of commercial disputes. He is a member of our commercial litigation practice group and chair of the US pro bono committee.
