Norton Rose Fulbright expands German team with new restructuring partner

Germany Press release - People February 2020

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has announced the appointment of Regina Rath as a new partner in Germany, expanding its EMEA financial restructuring and insolvency team.

Regina joins the firm’s Frankfurt office from Simmons & Simmons. She is an experienced litigator with a focus on financial litigation and insolvency law, and has represented financial institutions in contentious matters, often with an international angle.

Regina’s practice covers all areas of insolvency law, including advice to shareholders, management, creditors, strategic investors as well as debt and hedge funds in restructurings and insolvency proceedings. She has particular experience in distressed real estate transactions, corporate restructurings and distressed M&A transactions as well as in insolvency law aspects of complex financing structures.

Dr Oliver Sutter, German head of banking & finance at Norton Rose Fulbright, comments:

“Recent changes in German insolvency law, and a potential economic downturn on the horizon for several jurisdictions, means we expect to see an increase in restructurings. The addition of Regina to the team means we are well-placed to assist our clients on both German and cross-border restructurings, and build on our strong foothold in what will be the most important financial market in the EU.”

Dr Ralf Springer, head of Germany at Norton Rose Fulbright, adds:

“We are pleased to welcome Regina to the team. She is an excellent addition to our German financial restructuring and insolvency practice, which we expect will continue to grow over the course of this year to meet increasing client demand.”

Regina is qualified in Germany with additional French law degrees and working experience in the US, UK, Canada, France and Belgium.

Norton Rose Fulbright’s global bankruptcy, financial restructuring and insolvency practice has multidisciplinary experience and international reach. Based throughout Europe, the United States, Canada, Latin America, Asia, Australia, Africa, the Middle East and Central Asia, our bankruptcy lawyers handle some of the most complex and sensitive domestic and cross-border assignments across the globe.
