Biography

Sammit Nene prepares and prosecutes domestic and foreign patent applications covering a wide variety of technologies, with a particular emphasis on the electronics, mechanical and computer related arts. He analyzes novel and inventive concepts of our client's inventions prior to drafting patent applications. He helps develop detailed, tailored strategies, including claim amendments and conducting Examiner interviews, for responding to Office Actions from the USPTO. He collaborates with foreign associates for responding to rejections from other international patent offices, and also assists them in responding to rejections from the USPTO for patent applications filed by their non-US based clients. He is well versed with the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) system for filing “international patent applications,” including its various nuances, to help clients seek patent protection in various jurisdictions around the globe in an efficient manner.

In addition to utility patent application, Sammit also has experience drafting and prosecuting design patent applications, both US design patent applications and design patent applications filed under the Hague system. Furthermore, Sammit has drafted numerous claim charts, including claim charts for patent litigation and patent licensing. He also has experience drafting claim charts for Standards Essential Patents (SEPs). He also has significant experience conducting patent searches and analysis for clearance or freedom-to-operate (FTO) opinions.

Since starting patent prosecution in Autumn 2015, Sammit has drafted and prosecuted hundreds of utility patent applications for a wide array of technologies, including wireless communications, hard disk drives (HDDs), AI-based systems, cloud computing, edge computing systems, biomedical and surgical tools, firearms, identity and access management (IAM) systems, cybersecurity, quantum computing systems, cryogenic systems for superconductors, power supplies and converters for use in semiconductor manufacturing, minimal contact power monitoring systems, high-efficiency motors for electric vehicles (EVs), robotics, exercise equipment and hydraulic fracturing or fracking, to name a few. To date, over a hundred (100) patent applications that were personally drafted and prosecuted by Sammit have been issued as US Patents, including over forty five (45) issued patents for a single client.

Over the years, Sammit has worked with and assisted clients ranging from individual inventors to seed-funded startup companies to multi-billion dollar industry leaders with a significant global presence with their patent prosecution needs.
