Norton Rose Fulbright welcomes projects partner Kate Muller in Brisbane

Australia Press release - Firm August 2022

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright announced today that Kate Muller has joined as a partner in the Brisbane office.

Kate advises international and domestic clients across the energy and resources, infrastructure, government and transport sectors, with a primary focus on Australia and Asia. She has broad experience acting for both financiers and sponsors on energy and infrastructure projects, which includes advising borrowers on their corporate financing requirements, sponsors with respect to greenfields projects in South East Asia and Australia, and developers of major infrastructure projects.

Her recent work includes advising BE Power Solutions on its development of the Big T pumped hydro storage project in Toowoomba, Queensland; acting for BNP Paribas, ING Bank and DBS on their financing of Vena Energy’s Wandoan Battery Energy Storage Project; advising BANPU Energy Australia on their acquisition of an operating solar portfolio from New Energy Solar; advising Ampyr Energy on a portfolio of commercial and industrial behind the meter solar projects across Australia; and supporting the Australian Renewable Energy Agency on more than 20 grant funding matters across a variety of energy technologies and regulatory trials.

Kate joins from DLA Piper where she was a partner in the projects team. Prior to that she practised at Latham & Watkins in Singapore as a projects and general corporate finance lawyer with an emphasis on energy and resources in the South-East Asia region.

Norton Rose Fulbright chief executive partner in Australia, Alison Deitz, commented:

“Supporting domestic and global clients on the important issues of the global energy transition and infrastructure development is a key area of focus for our firm. Kate’s strong experience in Asia and Australia in energy and resources, infrastructure, real estate and corporate finance matters will bolster this offering and our national and regional projects and energy teams. We are delighted to welcome Kate to our firm.”

Kate Muller commented:

“There is a renewed focus, following the federal election in Australia this year, on the sorts of projects I have advised on for years, such as solar, pumped hydro, waste-to-energy, wind, hybrid power and battery storage. Given the activity and new projects we expect to see in our region, this is an exciting time to be joining a global firm that is a major advisor to global and domestic clients on the global energy transition.”
