Two Norton Rose Fulbright partners named as 2025 ‘Notable Leaders in Sustainability’ by Crain’s Chicago Business

Norton Rose Fulbright Chicago Partner-in-Charge Sameer Ghaznavi and US Co-Head of Projects Real Estate Christine Fernandez Owen (Chicago) have been honored as 2025 ‘Notable Leaders in Sustainability’ by Crain’s Chicago Business.

This annual list recognizes the top leaders in Chicago who have had a measurable environmental impact within their industries, advancing sustainability and setting the stage for a greener future.

Sameer represents private and public companies, developers, utilities and sponsors in relation to the development, strategic acquisition and sale of energy and infrastructure projects in the United States and internationally. Sameer has assisted clients with some of the largest renewable energy M&A transactions in the country. Notably, Sameer led the legal team on a transaction that was named the Project Finance International ‘Americas Power Deal of the Year’ and the IJInvestor ‘Renewables Acquisition of the Year, North Americas’ in 2023.

With more than 16 years of experience in the renewable energy industry, Christine advises developers, owners, operators and service providers of wind, solar and energy storage projects. Her work encompasses matters involving real estate, title insurance, environmental diligence, negotiation of commercial contracts used in project development and construction, as well as diligence supporting acquisitions and financing.

To qualify for this award, nominees must serve in a senior leadership role in the Chicago area and have made significant contributions to sustainability in the community. Selections were made through a nomination and editorial review process.
