The Pensions Dashboards Programme (PDP) has published a blog examining the importance of pensions dashboards.
The blog highlights a general lack of engagement with pensions and notes that “around 12 million people are still estimated to be under-saving for later life”. The blog states that the DWP has “identified problems of understanding and motivation to proactively seek information on their retirement savings”. It also points out that the Government has committed to delivering dashboards that will allow savers to view their pensions information in one secure place and states: “Having a comprehensive overview of their pensions savings could make it easier for consumers to plan for retirement and make more informed decisions... People will also benefit from dashboards providing details of pension pots that have been forgotten about, or where a person has lost touch with their pension provider or scheme".
