Norton Rose Fulbright secures trial victory for MoeGo in trade secret theft case

United States Press release - Business May 2025

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright secured a jury verdict in favor of California-based software company MoeGo, Inc. (formerly called Moement, Inc.) in its intellectual property lawsuit against competitor Groomore, Inc. and Groomore’s chief executive Chunliang Lin.

On May 22, 2025, a Los Angeles jury found that MoeGo was the victim of trade secret misappropriation and copyright infringement by Groomore and Lin. The verdict followed a seven-day trial in the case Moement, Inc. v. Groomore, Inc., et al., no. 2:22-cv-02871-WLH in the US District Court for the Central District of California.

After four years of development, MoeGo launched in 2018 as an all-in-one business solution for pet care providers. In 2020, about four months after leaving MoeGo as a programmer, Lin launched Groomore, a competitor application that also serves pet care providers.

The jury found that Lin, working with another former MoeGo employee Jie Zhang, secretly uploaded a copy of MoeGo's source code to develop Groomore and unfairly compete with MoeGo.

Norton Rose Fulbright’s litigation team was led by Christopher Pelham and included Brian Sun, Ani Galoyan, Andy Guo and Alex Scandroli (Los Angeles).
