The Labour party has announced that Gill Furniss, MP for Sheffield Brightside and Hillsborough, has been appointed as the new Shadow Pensions Minister following the Shadow Cabinet reshuffle.
Ms Furniss takes over the role from MP for Reading East Matt Rodda and will be working alongside the new Shadow Work and Pensions Secretary Liz Kendall, who was appointed last week.

On November 26, 2025 the SFO published updated guidance on its evaluation of compliance programmes (the Guidance). The Guidance follows on from the updated Corporate Prosecution Guidance published in August (and which was covered in our recent horizon scan), the SFO corporate cooperation guidance published in April (see here), and the Home Office Guidance on reasonable procedures to prevent fraud.

Jennifer Glasgow then discusses the Supreme Court’s decision on how the Habitats Regulations apply to planning consents, and what this means for planners and developers on protected sites. Finally, Amy Allen discusses the Upper Tribunal’s finding that landlords can be prevented from charging leaseholders for the costs of replacing cladding even if there is no “relevant defect”.
