On 16 January 2016, the International Atomic Energy Agency (the IAEA) certified that Iran had fulfilled its nuclear-related commitments under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (the JCPOA) in order for the JCPOA’s “Implementation Day” to take effect. As a result, EU and US sanctions relief for Iran outlined in the JCPOA has come into effect.

In a recent determination, the Ombudsman rejected a scheme member’s claim that the trustees should have conducted due diligence on the receiving scheme before making a transfer in in 2014, as there was no duty of care on the trustees at the time of transfer.
