Biography

Corinne Rathie is an aviation and asset finance lawyer based in London. Corinne specialises in aircraft-related cross-border financing and leasing transactions.

Corinne has acted for a wide range of international clients including airlines; aircraft leasing companies; asset managers; financial institutions; investment funds; and export credit agencies on various types of transactions within the aviation sector.

Corinne has advised on several highly structured, complex and bespoke, multi-jurisdictional transactions including finance and operating leases in respect of new, used and converted aircraft; large-scale aircraft portfolio acquisitions, disposals and novations; predelivery payment financings; aircraft teardown, part out and consignment arrangements; sale and leasebacks; exercises of purchase options; and acting for creditor groups in connection with the insolvency proceedings of airlines and aircraft lessors and related restructurings.

Corinne also has experience working in the shipping and offshore oil and gas finance sector having spent time working in our Singapore shipping finance team and has further spent time working in the firm's Melbourne and Brisbane banking and finance practices.

  • Advising a world leading logistics company and coordinating with a US based financing arranger on multiple large value, highly structured and bespoke pre-delivery payment financings in respect of several new Boeing 777F aircraft.

  • Advising a German aviation investment fund and its asset manager on the first Airbus A380 aircraft in the worldwide market to be redelivered under its lease, retired from service, torn down, parted out and sold on a consignment basis, including several bespoke contractual arrangements. 

  • Advising a Latin American airline in respect of a fleet-wide intra-group amendment project to implement uniform contractual amendments, including those required to prepare the airline for the introduction of IFRS16, involving contractual amendments to the documentation for over 200 aircraft.

  • Advising various lender groups on the JOLCO financings of certain used Airbus A320 aircraft leased to a Colombian airline, and the subsequent restructure of such financings following the US Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings of such airline.

  • Advising a major airline on a high-volume fleet transfer project, involving the lessee novation of all operating leases in respect of several Boeing 737-800 and Boeing 737-8MAX aircraft from one of its airline operator affiliates to a different airline operator affiliate, in order to implement an intra-group restructure.

  • Advising a leading global investment firm based in New York in relation to an expansion of its initial aircraft leasing platform and related joint venture arrangements, for investing in a portfolio of aircraft leased to a number of airlines around the world, including assisting in the sale and purchase and novation arrangements in respect of such aircraft.

  • Advising a Chinese based aircraft leasing company in connection with the new delivery, sale and leaseback of certain Airbus A350 aircraft with an Ethiopian based airline and the financing arrangements with respect to its acquisition of such aircraft.

  • Advising certain European export credit agencies in connection with a concurrent subleasing and sub-subleasing structure being put in place in the United Arab Emirates and Serbia in respect of an Airbus A330 aircraft.
