Biography

Paul Jorgensen is an intellectual property and life sciences lawyer, with extensive experience in pharmaceutical and biotechnology patent litigation.  

Dr. Jorgensen has been involved in many complex patent proceedings, including multiple trials before the Federal Court, actions under the Patented Medicines (Notice of Compliance) Regulations, damages actions, and appeals.  He also provides strategic advice on patent infringement and validity.  Dr. Jorgensen brings deep scientific understanding to his patent matters.  Before becoming a lawyer, Dr. Jorgensen was a scientist at Harvard Medical School and the University of Toronto, where he researched the molecular basis of cancers.  He is an author on over 20 scientific publications.

Dr. Jorgensen's practice includes trademarks disputes, product liability litigation, and pro bono work with a focus on housing rights.  He is also an editor of the firm's Pharma in Brief bulletin.

Before joining the firm, Dr. Jorgensen articled at a leading intellectual property boutique firm and clerked at the Court of Appeal for Ontario.
