Norton Rose Fulbright advises Irwin Mitchell on merger with Thomas Eggar

Business December 1, 2015

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has advised Irwin Mitchell on its merger with Thomas Eggar to create a £250m legal services business.

The merger will create a top-five private wealth legal team and a platform to significantly grow the combined business legal services operations. The merger will also continue both firm’s geographic expansion, adding Thomas Eggar’s six offices in London and the South East to the 11 national offices that carry the Irwin Mitchell name, plus additional offices for Berkeley Law (acquired by Irwin Mitchell in November 2014) in Mayfair. The deal demonstrates Irwin Mitchell’s continued determination to seize opportunities arising from consolidation in the legal sector. The merger is expected to formally complete in December 2015.

General Counsel Kevin Cunningham led the Irwin Mitchell legal team. The Irwin Mitchell team was supported by a Norton Rose Fulbright team in London led by partner Nick Adams, and including of counsel Anne Ledingham and associate Joshua Temkin (corporate), partner Dominic Stuttaford (tax), of counsel Nick Howard (employment), senior associate Shane O’Reilly (pensions) and associate Sophie Lees (IP).
