Biography
Janna Garcia is a member of our risk advisory team based in London. She specialises in financial services regulation and works with a broad range of clients on regulatory compliance matters and regulatory change programmes.
Janna has over 10 years of legal and risk experience in the UK and Australia. Before joining the firm, she worked in the UK Deposit Takers Supervision directorate at the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA). During this time, Janna led projects responding to acute risks experienced by PRA-regulated banks, which included overseeing s. 166 skilled person reviews and working on joint initiatives with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). She also worked on operational resilience, recovery planning and solvent exit planning projects relating to non-systemic banks and mutuals.
Prior to this, Janna gained an extensive understanding of risk culture and risk management and controls at the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA), where she held roles in enforcement, data analytics and the Executive Director’s Office responsible for the licensing, crisis management and prudential policy frameworks.

- Advised a range of clients on implementation of the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA) - a significant regulation aimed at enhancing the digital resilience of the financial sector in the European Union.
- Advised a large virtual asset service provider (VASP) in relation to its anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing obligations across a number of jurisdictions in the context of regulatory scrutiny and engagement.
- Advised a variety of financial services firms on their FCA/PRA authorisation application, covering key regulatory compliance areas such as business model, strategy and risk management.
- Advised a global financial institution on enhancements to its financial crime risk framework, including requirements for conducting risk assessments and onboarding clients.
- Advised an Asia-based asset manager on corporate governance arrangements in line with regulatory expectations.
