On December 24, 2020, the UK and EU announced the conclusion of a Trade and Cooperation Agreement (TCA) which would govern their future relationship from January 1, 2021, following the expiry of the 11-month transition period after the UK had formally left the EU.

On Christmas eve, the UK Government and the European Commission (Commission) announced that they had reached agreement on a free trade agreement.

Members of the UK Parliament have voted to approve the European Union (Future Relationship) Bill (The Bill) on Wednesday December 30, 2020.

At 11pm on Friday 31 January 2020, Britain left the European Union (EU) after more than 40 years of membership.

The EU (Withdrawal Agreement) Bill is now awaiting Royal Assent after completing its passage through Parliament.

On Friday 20 December 2019, the EU (Withdrawal Agreement) Bill (“the Bill”) was passed in the UK’s House of Commons by a majority of 124.

On 30 October 2019, the UK Government made the European Union (Withdrawal) Act 2018 (Exit Day) (Amendment) (No. 3) Regulations 2019.
