Biography

Cyril Poels is a tax lawyer based in Luxembourg. 

He advises corporate groups, investment funds and private equity sponsors on a wide range of domestic and international tax law matters, with a particular focus on the structuring and implementation of cross-border transactions.

His practice covers corporate and transactional tax advice in the context of mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate reorganisations, financing and refinancing structures, and capital markets transactions. He regularly assists clients in structuring and implementing holding, financing and investment structures through Luxembourg. Cyril also regularly advises on the tax structuring aspects of regulated and unregulated investment funds, and has significant experience in structuring private equity, real estate and infrastructure funds as well as carried interest and co-investment arrangements.

In addition, he has developed expertise in advising UHNWIs, family offices and private banks on domestic and international tax matters. He also represents clients in tax audits and litigation before the Luxembourg tax authorities and courts.

Before joining the firm, Cyril gained experience within a major international law firm and a leading financial institution in Luxembourg.
