Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has advised Redefine International P.L.C. (Redefine), a British Real Estate Investment Trust, on the sale of a German office portfolio. Norton Rose Fulbright advised on the transactional and tax aspects as well as a complex pre-structuring of the sale. The properties were held through a joint venture between Redefine and Menora Mivtachim Group (Menora), an Israeli Pension Fund. The total rental area of the four properties situated in Berlin, Dresden, near Cologne and Stuttgart comprises more than 45,000 sqm. The transaction volume amounts to EUR 106 million.
Dr. Uwe Eppler, head of the German tax practice at Norton Rose Fulbright comments:
“This transaction shows the growing strength of our international and integrated real estate practice in Germany. Our teams in Frankfurt, Munich and Hamburg stand out due to our unique cross-border industry experience and our ability to provide high-quality legal advice in all areas of the real estate sector.”
The Norton Rose Fulbright team was led by partner Dr Uwe Eppler (tax) and of counsel Dr Heiko Bertelmann (corporate/M&A, both Hamburg) and also comprised partner Thomas Hopf (real estate, Frankfurt) and Timo Noftz (finance, Hamburg), of counsel Matthias Fischer (real estate, Frankfurt), Alexander von Reuss (tax) and Dr Tim Schaper (antitrust) as well as associates Sarah Slavik-Schulz (tax), Dr. Michael Volks (finance, all Hamburg), Dr Gabriele Bruchmann (real estate) and Patrick Löffler (tax, both Frankfurt).
Norton Rose Fulbright frequently advises Redefine. In 2007, Dr Uwe Eppler’s team assisted Redefine’s predecessor Wichford, with the acquisition of the portfolio and provided advice on the restructuring and forming of the joint venture between Redefine and Menora in 2012 as well as on subsequent additional restructurings.
In December 2016 a team headed by Munich partner Maren Stölting advised Litos Immobilien AG on the acquisitions of real estate portfolios in Hamburg and Oberhaching (Bavaria).
The Norton Rose Fulbright real estate practice in Germany continues to grow with the addition of a team headed by two new partners Dr Stefan Feuerriegel and Patrick Narr, who will join the firm in Hamburg in February 2017.
