Norton Rose Fulbright advises on the sale of unique property on Baltic island

Business September 23, 2015

Global legal practice Norton Rose Fulbright has advised on the sale of the Heringsdorf Pier on the German island of Usedom. Norton Rose Fulbright’s real estate team advised Kriton Immobilien Service GmbH (Kriton), which acted as exclusive asset manager for Litos Immobilien AG (Litos) during the sale. The buyer is the fund of a large German insurance company.

The Heringsdorf Pier was built twenty years ago and at 508 metres, is the longest pier in Germany. The pier replaced the wooden Kaiser-Wilhelm bridge that was destroyed by a fire in 1957 and is located in the tourist centre of Heringsdorf. The pier also provided the backdrop for the television broadcasting of the 2012 European Football Championships.

The Norton Rose Fulbright team was led by partner Maren Stölting and included associate Stefanie Mösges (both corporate, real estate, both Munich), of counsels Felix Dinger (public law, Hamburg) and Matthias Nordmann (antitrust, state aid, Munich) as well as senior associate Andreas Berberich (tax, Munich).
