Maximilian Schmitz is an intellectual property lawyer based in Munich. He advises on litigation and dispute resolution across the full range of intellectual property rights, with a particular focus on patent law.
He advises national and international companies on intellectual property rights with a focus on patent, utility models and design law, as well as competition law. Alongside patent infringement proceedings, he also advises on invalidation proceedings before the Federal Patent Court and the Federal Supreme Court, as well as opposition proceedings before the German Patent and Trademark Office and the European Patent Office. Maximilian also advises clients in the field of mechanical engineering, bioscience and sports equipment.
Maximilian studied law at the Ludwigs- Maximilians-University of Munich and the University of Augsburg. He holds a Master of Laws degree (LL.M.) in the field of intellectual property from the Heinrich-Heine-University Duesseldorf. During his traineeship he worked for two years for a renowned German IP-boutique.
He is member of the Munich Bar Association, as well as the German Association for the Protection of Industrial Property and Copyrights (GRUR e.V.).
Maximilian is a German native speaker, is fluent in English and has basic knowledge of French.
