Biography

Daniel Arends is a restructuring lawyer based in our Hamburg and Frankfurt office.

Daniel focuses on advising corporates, management, lenders and investors in the context of out-of court and in-court financial restructurings and refinancings. Daniel has a special focus on national and cross-border situations with complex capital structures, special situations and distressed M&A.

Before joining the firm, Daniel worked as a restructuring lawyer for a leading international UK law firm as well as a leading national law firm specializing in insolvency administration.

  • A Swedish manufacturer on its financial restructuring, in particular with regard to liquidation scenarios concerning certain of its distressed German subsidiaries* 
  • A Spanish PE fund on the acquisition of an European healthcare business headquartered in Germany out of insolvency proceedings*
  • A secured syndicate lender (German bank) on the financial restructuring of a German project developer by way of a debt/debt-swap*
  • A trustee in connection with a double-sided restructuring trust (Sanierungstreuhand) over one of Germany’s largest and state-owned energy suppliers*
  • A trustee in connection with a double-sided restructuring trust over an international industrial group as part of an out-of-court financial restructuring process*
  • A security trustee for the benefit of the lender of a DIP / (genuine) priority loan (Massedarlehen)*
  • An US manufacturing group on the conclusion of a JV as well as a complex I/C reorganization (including mergers / solvent liquidations)*
