Norton Rose Fulbright advises AnaCap Financial Partners on acquisition of majority stake in WebID

Germany Press release - Business September, 2021

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has advised AnaCap Financial Partners (AnaCap) on its acquisition of a majority stake in WebID Solutions GmbH, a leading German digital identity verification provider.

AnaCap, a leading private equity investor in technology-enabled financial services, will provide significant growth capital and will work closely with and provide targeted support to the existing management team as part of the future growth partnership. The goal is to expand WebID's product offering into other industries outside of its core financial services and telecommunications sectors where the company is a market leader, such as eGovernment, eHealth, eCommerce and eMobility.

This transaction is another important growth step for Norton Rose Fulbright's private equity practice in Germany. The team had already advised AnaCap on the successful investment in payment service provider Heidelpay (now: Unzer) including several bolt-on acquisitions as well as the recent investment in MRH Trowe, one of the ten largest industrial brokers in Germany.

The Norton Rose Fulbright team was led by European Co-Head of Private Equity Frank Henkel, supported by Johannes Diez, Alexander Mathes, Tobias Grans (all M&A/Private Equity/Munich) and Malte Meyer (M&A/Hamburg). Additional advice was rendered by Dr Tim Schaper Melina Rohrbach and Dr Dennis Cukurov (all Merger Control/Hamburg), Dr Christoph Ritzer and Markus Müller (IT/Data Protection/Frankfurt, Munich), Claudia Posluschny, Michaela Zenkert and Olivia Reinke (all Employment/Munich) as well as Tiffany Zilliox (IP/Munich).
