Norton Rose Fulbright hires Nadir Patel, strengthening its government relations and regulatory capabilities

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright welcomes Nadir Patel as a senior Strategic Advisor. Nadir is a highly accomplished former government official, negotiator, policy advisor and diplomat. He is based in Ottawa and will work closely with the firm’s leadership team and practice groups both nationally and internationally. Nadir will provide strategic advice on regulatory affairs, global government relations, ESG-related matters, and doing business in international markets.

Prior to joining the firm, Nadir held a series of high-level government positions over a distinguished career in public service where his achievements have resulted in numerous forms of recognition. Most recently, he served as Canada’s High Commissioner for the Republic of India, with concurrent accreditation as Canada’s Ambassador to Nepal and Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bhutan. Prior to that, he served as Assistant Deputy Minister and Chief Financial Officer for Canada’s Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development, Canada’s Consul General in Shanghai, Canada’s Chief Air Negotiator; Senior Policy Advisor to the Clerk of the Privy Council and Secretary to the Cabinet, and Chief of Staff to the National Security Advisor to the Prime Minister. He has served on several Canadian and international boards, including Crown corporations and not-for-profits.

Nadir is Managing Director at Fairfax Consulting Services, Strategic Advisor to the President of Huron University, and a Director on the board of Canadian Tire Corporation. He also serves on the board of Jumpstart Charities. Nadir holds a joint Master’s of Business Administration from New York University’s Stern School of Business, London School of Economics and Political Science, and HEC (Paris) School of Management.
