Increasing Law Firm Diversity: Norton Rose Canada Uses Blind Evaluations as First Step in Partnership Decisions (by subscription only)

Norton Rose Fulbright managing partner – Canada, Charles Hurdon, recently spoke with Law.com International about our partnership selection process, developed to help eliminate unconscious bias and encourage diversity. When the promotions committee reviews written submissions from associates being considered for partner, the documents are stripped of any identifying information. This process is just one of the firm’s many diversity and equity initiatives. “I don’t think anybody’s got a pixie dust that makes everything perfect, but the more of these initiatives we have, the more comfortable we feel that the playing field is somewhat more balanced,” said Charles Hurdon.
