Will changes coming into force enable corporates to access scheme surplus?

Defined Benefit pension schemes have been generating unprecedented surpluses in recent years, but sponsoring companies are not generally seeing the benefits. This is because some DB schemes have rules that prohibit the return of surplus, others impose strict conditions and there is also a range of statutory hurdles to overcome. This will all change when the Pensions Bill comes into force next year. We will explore the potential for companies of ongoing DB schemes to share in surpluses and the conditions which will likely apply.
