Biography

Sameer Mulji's practice focuses on representing project developers and lenders in project finance transactions, with a particular emphasis on solar and wind energy projects. His renewable energy work includes both utility-scale and distributed generation projects.

  • Represented Clearway Energy on the $381 million debt and tax equity financing supporting the repowering of the Elbow Creek and Wildorado wind projects in Texas with a combined capacity of 283 MW. This transaction was named the 2019 "North American Wind Deal of the Year" by IJGlobal.
  • Represented the lenders in the construction and back-leverage financing for the Prevailing Wind project, a 216 MW wind project in South Dakota.
  • Represented the sponsor in the construction, back-leverage and tax equity financing for the Bighorn solar project, a 240 MW solar PV energy project in Colorado.
  • Represented the sponsor in the construction, back-leverage and tax equity financing for the Impact solar project, a 260 MW solar PV energy project in Texas.
  • Represented lenders on a $225 million revolving credit facility to be used to develop and acquire solar projects.
  • Represented the sponsor in the bridge, construction, back-leverage and tax equity financing for the Gaskell West project, a 142 MW solar PV energy project and 20 MW BESS project in Texas.
  • Represented the sponsor in the back-leverage and tax equity financing of two wind projects in New York totaling 219 MW.
  • Represented the sponsor in the construction, back-leverage and tax equity financing for two solar projects in Texas totaling 262 MW.
  • Represented the sponsor in the construction, back-leverage and tax equity financing for two solar projects in Colorado and Indiana totaling 352.5 MW.
  • Represented the sponsor in the construction, back-leverage and tax equity financing for the Black Bear solar project, a 100 MW solar PV energy project in Alabama.
  • Represented the sponsor in the construction, back-leverage and tax equity financing for a portfolio of solar projects in Pennsylvania totaling 80 MW.
  • Represented the sponsor in the construction and back-leverage financing for two solar projects in Arkansas and Louisiana totaling 395 MW.

  • Represented RAD Energy Solutions in the $200 million acquisition and financing of an infrastructure portfolio fund to deploy 33 MW of hydrogen fuel cells for commercial and industrial customers.
  • Represented Savion, LLC in the sale of the 200 MW Brazoria West solar project in Texas along with the construction, back-leverage and tax equity financing for the project.
  • Represented sponsor in the construction, back-leverage and tax equity financing of the Corazon solar project, a 266 MW solar PV energy project in Texas.
  • Represented lenders in the acquisition financing of the Freeport Energy Center, a 260 MW natural gas-fired, combined-cycle cogeneration power plant in Texas.
  • Represented lenders in the acquisition financing of a portfolio of solar projects in California and New Mexico and totaling 68.5 MW.
  • Represented SunPower in the development and sales of numerous portfolios of commercial and industrial solar projects (encompassing about 200 projects in nine states) to Goldman Sachs Renewable Power.
  • Represented Clearway Energy Group in the development and debt and tax equity financings of a 419 MW wind project in Texas.
  • Represented Sempra Renewables in the acquisition of four utility-scale solar projects in California from Recurrent.  Following completion of the acquisition, represented Sempra in the successful tax equity financing of all four projects.
  • Represented PGGM as an equity investor in a US$300M portfolio of SolarCity residential solar projects.
  • Represented Clearway Energy Group (formerly NRG Renew) in the development, back leverage debt financing and tax equity financing of a portfolio of commercial rooftop solar projects.

  • Represented lenders (Siemens Financial Services, Crédit Agricole, and Union Bank) in the financing of Pattern Energy's 151.8 megawatt Spring Valley wind project, the first major wind project in Nevada.
