The power of intersectional allyship

Diversity and inclusion series

Event Details

Global | June 22, 2021 | 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. ET

Just as our social identities are intersectional, so too is authentic allyship. Intersectional allyship focuses on the unique needs expressed by different equity-deserving individuals or groups, and recognizes that there is no one-size-fits-all approach. When you think about your own well-intended actions as an ally, are you taking into account the needs of specific groups? How can you avoid becoming a performative ally?

We are pleased to invite you to the second session in our Diversity and inclusion series, where a group of diverse panellists will share their unique perspectives, beliefs and opinions on topics that promote inclusion.

During this session, guest speakers Nicole McKinney, founder of WAKING the unCONSCIOUS, Jade Pichette from Pride at Work, and Jack Saddleback from OUTSaskatoon will join Troy Ungerman, chief diversity and inclusion officer at Norton Rose Fulbright to discuss how to take your allyship to the next level by understanding the specific needs of the Black, Indigenous and LGBTQI+ communities.

  • Nicole McKinney (she/her), Founder and President, WAKING the unCONSCIOUS
  • Jade Pichette (they/them), Manager of Programs, Pride at Work Canada
