Biography
Clare is an employment and labour lawyer based in Canberra.
Clare has broad experience acting for and advising Commonwealth employers in relation to employment, industrial relations, anti-discrimination, work health and safety and integrity matters.
Clare has a strong understanding of the operating environment within the Commonwealth, having previously undertaken secondments to the employment law teams within Services Australia and the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water.

- ATO, Services Australia, the Department of Defence, the Department of Parliamentary Services - in unfair dismissal and general protections proceedings before the Fair Work Commission and Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia.
- Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water – embedded within the employment law team during the recent round of enterprise bargaining and worked closely with the Workplace Relations team to support the progress of bargaining, engagement with the APSC and advice on discrete issues.
- Commonwealth department – conduct of an investigation under the Public Interest Disclosure Act 2013 (Cth), including management of mandatory referral obligations to the National Anti-Corruption Commission.
- Commonwealth agencies – on managing the employment of long term ill and injured employees.
- Commonwealth agency - on a significant superannuation entitlements matter relating to contractors.
- Commonwealth department - in relation to complaints to the Australian Human Rights Commission alleging race, age and disability discrimination in connection with a national program.
- Department of Veterans’ Affairs in Federal Court judicial review proceedings concerning decisions made under the Public Service Act 1999.
- Commonwealth agencies - in disputes before the Fair Work Commission relating to the interpretation of enterprise agreements and workplace determinations.
- Commonwealth department - on the public release of a report into widespread workplace culture issues, including allegations of sexual harassment and a hostile work environment.
- Commonwealth department - on managing the outcomes of a workplace psychosocial risk review.
